Labor Day doings were quiet with our family. Bobbi was here for the weekend and some of us enjoyed a picnic at Betty's. It was nice just visiting and watching 3-year old Tyler make faces. He can make faces that keep me in stitches. He takes that angel face of his and screws it round and up and down and just keep me laughing and laughing.

Tyler is my great-grandson but I cannot remember any of my children or even grandchildren ever make these crazy, funny faces. I love it.

And I love him.

I read something that should have not surprised me this morning re Martin Luther.
His favorite part of God's Word was the doctrine of justification by faith. J. Vernon McGee states this in his notes on Galatians of the New Testament. This is actually a well-known belief that Luther had no toleration for legalism.

There are many places in God's Word that stresses the belief of only faith for salvation. Some, Romans 1:17 and 4:5, Hebrews 10:38 and Galatians 2:11.

I remember well the verse for the Rev. James Kennedy's class I took at Salem Baptist Church several years ago that says, "Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." It is Colossians 2:7. The study was "Evangelism Explosion."
The whole chapter 2 of Colossians expressed faith and its "fullness"of salvation.

This should be our understanding of the grace of God. On our own we can only see pleasing man, its human law. This is a study to make but with belief first in God's Word. When that comes first, comes understanding.

To shorten this post, first try understanding for yourself asking God to help you.
