CELEBRATION AT OUR HOUSE

A HOLE IN ONE !!
Today started out fine. Doug and Dean were to golf at Pine Meadows Golf Course, their usual place. They left with the ususal hope of doing better.
I stayed home sorting pictures and papers, getting ready to do another scrapbook for another great grandson.
Peg had stopped in just to visit and was here when Dean got back. His first words, "I got my first hole-in-one!"
So, it's time to celebrate! AND WE WILL!! Pretty good for a 85-year-old!!!

THIS MORNING

This from the Saturday Evening Post.

The Truth Hurts
You step on me and treat me bad.
You try to cheat me; I'm so sad.
You frown at me and say I lie.
You hate me so; I don't know why.
You're really lucky I'm not frail.
It's hard to be your bathroom scale!

THINGS AREN'T BETTER, THEY MAY BE WORSE

This from April, 2008.

When MinisterJoe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate everyone was expecting the usual generalities but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to see you direction and guidance.

"We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

"We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

"We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

"We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

"We have killed out unborn and called it choice.

"We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

"We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

"We have abused power and called it politics.

"We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

"We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of speech and expression.

"We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

"Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today. Cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number legislators walked out during the prayer in protest.

In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, where the Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls negative.
The church is now receiving (2008) international requests for copies from India, Africa, and
Korea.

Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response that any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and become our desire so that we can again be called, "One nation under God."

Add to this a prayer for our nation to keep our freedom.

NEW OFFICE

It's done so far!!
I simply have too much stuff so even with the open closet full of stuff I still have too much I really don't need. So, the sorting and tossing is still going on. I really don't do so much that I need all this stuff.
BUT isn't it nice!
Dean still has plenty of room, he says he doesn't even need an office, but he sure uses it. His is an L shape in almost half the room, not seen in this picture. He put a big shelf above his desk for things he has kept over the years but he hasn't put his stuff up yet.

With this move the guest room is much nicer now, so peaceful, and neat. Bobbi okayed it.

IT'S NOT A MILKWEED

I had been told that plant was a milkweed for weeks and I thought several times I should just pull it up.
BUT look at it!
Two years ago I had planted this lily from a granddaughter, Sarah, and it has never appeared until this year. And it almost disappeared for good! I might have pulled it up!
I'm not sure of the name, Stargazer or something like that. I'll look it up later.
Anyhow I am thankful it survived, and thrilled it is blooming. I think it is beautiful.
Thanks to Sarah.

AUGUST, 2009, IS HERE

August is here and I am wondering if summer is finally here. Early this morning it was only in the 40's, and now at 1:00 it is only 76. That is not summer weather to me, but it is pleasant.

August also brings some dates to remember at our house.

This one is hard to believe. Our great grandson Brett was 9 on the first day of August.
Our cousins who host the family reunion celebrate their 50th anniversary. They had a big party the 25th and we were there.
August 28 - Brandy's birthday. She's a lady, don't ask her age.

August 29 - Dean born again, 1981, while we were living in Springfield, Missouri.
Also, August 29 - Tristian, great grandson, will be 13.
Still, August 29 - Dave and Marcie, I think it is 65 years of marriage, to one another.

August 30 - Lowell, our oldest grandson, 42 years old.
We have little Avery, but I don't have the date.

Did I miss anyone, or make any mistakes?
Let me know.
